Have you considered joining Neighbourhood Watch?

The cost-of-living crisis and the pandemic have highlighted the importance of community connections in tackling loneliness and isolation, as well as in our vital work in crime prevention.Neighbourhood Watch is a community-led charity that enables residents to work together to help to deter local crime. Criminals are less likely to target a community where there is a strong Neighbourhood Watch presence, as they know that residents are keeping a close eye on their surroundings and are more likely to report suspicious activity. This can help to prevent crime before it happens. One of the key benefits of having a group is the sense of community it fosters. By working together with your neighbours, you can build a more connected and resilient community. This can help to reduce social isolation and improve the mental health of residents.Let’s make this a better place to live. Today, we commemorate the liberation of the Falkland Islands 42 years ago. We remember the 255 British military servicemen who died in the conflict in 1982 and their bereaved families, and all those who came back physically and mentally injured. For over 40 years, the Army’s national charity has proudly supported Falklands veterans and we stand with them today as they remember their fallen comrades.

The Happisburgh footprints represent a collection of ancient hominid footprints dating back to the latter part of the Early Pleistocene, approximately between 950,000 and 850,000 years ago. These footprints were uncovered in May 2013 within a freshly exposed sediment layer of the Cromer Forest Bed, located on a beach in Happisburgh, Norfolk, England. They were meticulously documented in 3D photographs shortly before succumbing to destruction by the incoming tide.

The findings related to these footprints were publicly shared on 7 February 2014, where they were recognised as the earliest known hominid footprints found outside of Africa.Prior to this discovery at Happisburgh, the title for the oldest known footprints within Europe was held by the Ciampate del Diavolo tracks, located at the Roccamonfina volcano in Italy, which have been dated to roughly 350,000 years ago.ruralhistoria.com/.../peoples-have-been-roaming.../ ... If you're out on the beach between Bacton and Sea Palling, you may come across a strange discovery!

A Deep History Detective community project run by Pathways to Ancient Britain is examining how artefacts move along the Deep History Coast – how far they move and over what timeframe. And so, bright pink numbered stones have been placed along this stretch of coastline. If you come across one, please record the location using the CITiZAN app. Once you’ve recorded the location, please leave the replica on the beach so its journey can continue to be tracked!
