Under 11s results for Woodbridge Devlopment Festival

1st Game       Southwold 0  – Hadleigh 10
In the first game we were slow to get started and Hadleigh scored quickly. Their Forwards were very strong and we really didn’t have any answers to what they threw at us. We spent most of the game defending but there was some excellent tackles from us to hold Hadleigh to only a 10 – 0 defeat.

2nd Game      Southwold 0 – Cambridge 5
We made a good start and got amongst the Cambridge side right from the whistle. The boys started to play some attacking rugby with Forwards now starting to get in to there stride and winning plenty of ball for the Backs to work with. We were unlucky not to score on 2 occasions but then the Cambridge side finally broke through to score the winner.

3rd Game  Southwold 5  – Colchester 0
Try Scorer – Binder
In this game the boys knew that they needed to start to play, and this is what they did. There was some good forward play allowing the Backs to run at the defence and put Colchester on the back foot. The boys started to play for each other and support each with some excellent rugby being played.
4th Game   Southwold 10  – Woodbridge 5

Try Scorers – Solloway,Utting.
This was a continuation of the 3rd game where the Forwards scrummaged and rucked well and lost very few of the scrums. With the Forwards winning plenty of ball this allowed the Backs to be creative and this resulted in 2 Trys.Woodbridge had some very good attacking chances and scored their only Try in the second half. They then started to attack and held us near our try line for a while and during this point of the game the boys tackled very well to hold them out.

This then put us into the Shield Final

Shield Final    Southwold  12  – Ipswich 7
Try Scorer – Delaney
Conversion  -Delaney
The boys were well up for this and scored within 2 minutes of the start with a darting run from Delaney to score the 1st Try with most of the backs as support. The Forwards had another excellent game with some strong scrummaging which resulted in the second Try from Delaney who then kicked the Conversion. At half time Ipswich brought some fresh legs on and they scored quickly. We then had to tackle hard to keep Ipswich out. With some strong play we managed this resulting in us winning the shield.

WELL DONE BOYS YOU
