family-friendly circus shows

Head to The Walks in King’s Lynn town centre from Friday 30th August to Sunday 1st September 2019, for a fantastic weekend of jaw-dropping family-friendly circus shows!

World-class professional circus company Lost In Translation have teamed up with arts charity Creative Arts East with support from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, to bring a whole weekend of different circus shows to the town, all as part of The Walks Summer Circus weekend.

Lost In Translation (who recently performed on BBC1’s Blue Peter) will be performing their highly acclaimed show Hotel Paradiso (currently touring at Edinburgh Fringe). There’ll be an interactive relaxed My First Circus: The Littlest Mermaid show for ages 0-7 featuring live music; a 4-star Guardian reviewed contemporary juggling show by Gandini Juggling; and a  fun-filled traditional circus cabaret featuring unicycling, juggling, aerial and acrobatic tricks and lots more!

All shows will be performed at The Walks inside Lost In Translation’s traditional circus ‘big top’ tent, so audiences will be able to experience every show in an authentic circus setting.

For full information about all the shows happening that weekend and to book tickets, visit www.kingslynncornexchange.co.uk and search for ‘The Walks’, or visit the Corn Exchange in person. All events and booking info can also be found on the Creative Arts East Facebook page.

HOTEL PARADISO

FRIDAY 30th AUGUST – 7pm

SATURDAY 31st AUGUST – 4pm

Spectacle, comedy, drama and delight – Lost in Translation Circus present a brilliantly funny new circus/theatre show for all the family.

Meet Madame and the charming staff of the quirkily ineffective Hotel Paradiso – and their arch enemy the dastardly Banker, who schemes to repossess the hotel. As the tenants introduce us to their beloved home, we witness their battle with the Banker. Will they manage to stay open, or will they be forced to move on?

The cast of 6 highly skilled acrobats, clowns and jugglers tell the story of how the tenants battle to save their home and livelihood. Circus favourites Lost in Translation display a colourful mix of daring circus skills, physical comedy and theatre. Hotel Paradiso also features a specially written musical score by renowned composer and multi-instrumentalist Roger Eno. With thrills, gasps, laughs and drama there’s plenty for both adults and children to enjoy.

GIBBON

SATURDAY 31st AUGUST – 7pm

A surreal and charming feast of juggling choreography, with a sense of humour and a hint of absurdity.

Achieving success while masking failure, a narrative is formed as the action cuts between the creation and the execution of hypnotic patterns and juggling movement sequences.

An absorbing and entertaining work achieved through a powerful combination of technical skill and performance chemistry.

“Seriously interesting and wryly amusing” ★★★★ The Guardian
