Join us for a musical extravaganza and bag a top prize!

A stay in a holiday cottage and a personal tour of a unique collection of World War Two vehicles are among the prizes going under the hammer during a special concert organised to mark the silver anniversary of a much-loved Suffolk charity.

Halesworth Community Nursing Care Fund (HCNCF) is celebrating its 25th year with a summer musical extravaganza, called “Music in the Garden”, which takes place in Wissett, near Halesworth, on 6 September 2014.

The packed programme includes live music from Jack Pescod and Hannah Vogt, The Climax Jazz Quartet, Bob and John Linney and Mojo Mechanics and the Occasionals, as well as a bar, barbecue, raffle, hog roast, stalls and games.

Prizes generously donated for the auction include the use of a Southwold holiday cottage for a week, two rounds at Halesworth Golf Club, an antique chest of drawers and an oil painting.

People will also be given the chance to bid for a personal tour of Bruce Crompton’s extensive collection of World War Two vehicles, which have featured in films such as ‘Saving Private Ryan’, ‘Fury’, starring Brad Pitt, and a recent TV show called ‘Combat Dealers’.

It is hoped as many people as possible will come to the concert and bid for a prize, with all proceeds going towards an ongoing appeal to raise £712,000 to build an information and support centre for patients with life-limiting illnesses in north Suffolk and south Norfolk.

Ted Edwards, ISC chairman, said: “We are really looking forward to this musical extravaganza, which will be packed-full of entertainments and promises something for all the family.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped organise the event or donated a prize for the auction or raffle. There are some fantastic lots on offer and we are hoping for some fierce bidding on the night! We’d also like to pass on our thanks to Kath and Alan Witherby for hosting the event for us at Rydal Mount.

“We hope as many people as possible snap up a ticket for this charity event and bring us one step closer to our vision of creating this valuable centre which will provide vital support for local people when they need it the most.”

Music in the Garden takes place from 2pm to 9pm on Saturday 6 September at Rydal Mount on Grays Lane in Wissett.

Tickets are priced at £5, with children under five free. They are available from Cafe Frappa, Halesworth Book Shop, and Tillys, all in Halesworth, or by calling Barbara Kell on 01986 785391 or Jane Edwards on 01986 784393. Parking and refreshments will be available.
