As the Christmas break approaches, Greyfriars Health Centre in Great Yarmouth are reminding members of the public that it is the season to be healthy as they prepare to treat those minor festive mishaps.

Whether it be a sprained ankle caused by over-eagerness to reach a Christmas stocking or a severe case of turkey-induced indigestion that won’t be settled, Greyfriars Health Centre will be opening their doors to all from 8am to 8pm daily.

Greyfriars is both a GP surgery with registered patients and a walk-in centre for non-registered patients, which offers treatments for minor injuries, and other health problems such as rashes and infections.

Dr Frew, GP at Greyfriars, said: “Greyfriars is not your normal GP practice! As a walk-in centre it is open every day of the year ready to treat people with non-life threatening injuries or illness – and over Christmas we will be happy to see people from across the whole of Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

“Of course we know that people don’t really want to see a doctor during the festive season and self-care is actually the best option if you have a common complaint such as a cough, cold or upset stomach. Stocking up on medicine cabinet essentials can go a long way towards keeping you healthy this Christmas; painkillers can help relieve aches and pains and rehydration salts can help get you back on track after vomiting or diarrhoea.

“If your health issue persists, or if it is something that you can’t effectively treat at home, then we’ll be here ready to help without you needing to book an appointment. We also offer treatment to those without a fixed address.”
