Conservation

Amazona Zoo’s mission statement is to work with conservationists and other zoos towards the goal of full protection of all wild species and their wild homes.

The zoo has not taken any animals from the wild into care. Primarily the animals on view are from the good breeding results of affiliated zoos. The collection at Amazona will be used to support research in the field and to develop knowledge of the animals and their habitats.

Amazona Zoo is the main sponsor of a programme of research into the life of the Titicaca River Frog, an extraordinary amphibian from Lake Titicaca. The frog is an important food source for local people and its decline is demonstrating that the whole local environment is being degraded.

Ownership

New owners the Cabbell Manners family will use their generations of animal management experience to continue the work put in place by Ken Sims, who leaves Amazona to focus on his other attraction, Thrigby Wildlife Gardens near Great Yarmouth

Admission costs: £11.50 for adults, £10.00 for seniors and £8.50 for children (aged 4-16).

The zoo is open daily from April to December from 10am to 5pm and is located on the north Norfolk coast at Cromer. The full postal address is Amazona Zoo, Hall Lane, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 9JG.
