Beccles Public Hall August Newsletter

Welcome to our August Newsletter with the great news that

We are planning to re-open our Box Office from Thursday 6th August at 10am.

A countertop protection screen is being installed and all social distancing measures plus hand-sanitising stations will be in place. As well as the redecoration, the Hall will have a deep clean before reopening to ensure the safety of our customers.

All Government guidelines dealing with Covid-19 will be adhered to and a notice detailing these will be displayed in the foyer.

Our friendly box office volunteers will be happy to take card or cash payments and the new opening times are:

Thursday, Friday, Saturday:  10am – 1pm

And what can we book for I hear you ask……….

Well from Saturday 5th September we are starting Films @ the Hall with the musical

An all-star cast brings the magic of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous stage musical CATS to the silver screen. Based on T.S.Elliot’s ‘Practical Cats’ poems songs include ‘Memory’, ‘Macavity’ and ‘Mr Mistoffelees’.

Test your detective skills on Wednesday 9th September.With a great cast Knives Out, a modern whodunit, follows a master detective investigating the patriarch’s death after a family gathering goes awry – can you spot the killer?

In 2011 Take That embarked on the biggest tour the UK and Ireland had ever seen Progress Live in which the four-piece band reunited with Robbie Williams. Enjoy this breath-taking concert with all their greatest hits and a 60ft mechanical robot man!

On Wednesday 16th September we are celebrating the American singer and actress Judy Garland as she arrives in London to perform sell-out shows at the Talk of the Town nightclub in the film Judy. “Renée Zellweger is phenomenally good.” The Guardian.

Back by popular demand the feel-good film Yesterday is on Saturday 19th September. Featuring the music of the Beatles it was filmed locally in Halesworth, Gorleston and Great Yarmouth. Follow Jack’s journey from struggling singer-songwriter to an overnight sensation.

Excitement is high at Downton Abbey when the Crawley family learns that King George V and Queen Mary are coming to visit, but trouble is just around the corner. Catch up with these favourite TV characters on Wednesday 23rd September.

Filmed in January 1972, Aretha Franklin recorded the celebrated live gospel album Amazing Grace. It remains not only the best-selling gospel record of all time but the best-selling album of Franklin’s 50-year career. No one who loves music will want to miss this thrilling film on Wednesday 30th September.

All films will start at 7.30pm with doors opening at 7.00pm, and the ticket price is £5 per person.

To ensure social distancing the Hall will be set up cabaret style with tables and chairs. So, book two tickets and you will have a table for two or if you book four tickets we will set you up a table for four, which is the maximum number per table.

Our bar will be open before the film starts providing table service only. On each table will be our bar menu and an order form. Fill in the form with your order and hand to one of our bar volunteers and they will return to your table with your drinks. Payment can be made by cash or card.

What a relaxing evening – watching a great film on the big screen enjoying a bottle of wine or a refreshing pint – perfect!

And, for something different, on Saturday 26th September we have our popular

Quiz @ the Hall for teams of up to 4. There have been loads of Zoom Quizzes during lockdown so it will be great to test your knowledge against other teams who are in the same room! Plus there will be prizes to be won! A great opportunity to have one of those lightbulb moments!

For all these events we ask that you book in advance either through our box office or online at www.becclespublichall.co.uk so that the Hall can be set up in the best way to ensure the comfort of our customers whilst adhering to Social Distancing protocols.

We are very excited about reopening and looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the Hall.
