Britten

Monday 21 October at 7.30 pm.
BENJAMIN BRITTEN: PEACE AND CONFLICT (PG)
Director: Tony Britten.  UK 2013.  109 minutes.  Narrated by John Hurt.
With James Gilchrist, Jake Arditti, Iain Burnside and the Benyounes Quartet.
Docudrama shot mainly at Greshams in Norfolk where Britten was a pupil.  Building a picture of the composers development as a creative artist and a committed pacifist, the film switches between dramatisation, documentary and contemporary performance.  A memorable tribute with music from celebrated musicians and singers.
Music lovers will find it illuminating and evocative.  Steve Rose in The Guardian.
