Business Telecom to quadruple workforce in Great Yarmouth

Business Telecom, which is aiming to quadruple its workforce in the next three years, has opened its new headquarters in Great Yarmouth. And it has hurled down a challenge to the perceived call centre ‘paradise’ of India.

Tony Wright, the town’s MP, cut a ribbon to officially launch the company’s call centre and offices at Southtown Road, where the current staff of 60 will rise to 240 by 2011.

“This is really exciting for the town,” said Wright. “I’ve had the opportunity to visit call centres in India but they cannot compare with the level of skill and expertise we offer in this country. It’s a growth industry and it’s vitally important to have one in Great Yarmouth.”

Founded in 1999, Business Telecom has invested £1m in the move from its former premises in King Street, Yarmouth, and now has 12,000 sq ft of floor space in which to expand.

“We are totally committed to Great Yarmouth, where people are motivated and loyal,” said chairman Chris Fox.

“We have a very strong skills base on which to expand the business nationally through acquisition and organic growth, and this means we can offer terrific career opportunities for people in and around the town.”

Business Telecom provides telephone systems of up to 100 extensions for small and medium sized businesses and organisations, including those in the education, hospitality and medical fields.
