Carrying the world on your shoulder in Lowestoft

Waveney Partnership TV

Waveney Partnership Television certainly knows how to attract attention. Onlookers commented “Someone’s got the world on their shoulders” as a young girl with a globe strolled down London Road North, Lowestoft.

It was all in aid of Waveney Partnership Television. Community and voluntary groups had been invited to submit proposals for the opportunity of “A Moment of Fame,” on the ten plasma screens located in Waveney. It was one of four films to be shot for WPTV. It was an ideal opportunity to highlight the launch of the new JUMP premises on London Road North and the organisations message of help and support for youngsters.

JUMP Project Manager, Louise Botwright said “The members and volunteers were thrilled to be involved in the filming. Everyone helped work with the story line, including the students at Lowestoft College. The film showcases JUMP excellently”.

Then there was a bus with the service name “4 town’s bus” that did not stop until it reached the triangle in Lowestoft, not a known bus stop. The 4 towns bus does not carry passengers but provides rural community youth sessions, IT training, a place to meet and available for event hire. Now searching for sponsors to continue this valuable service, Tod Sullivan of Graphics Matter Ltd is the first company to offer support.

Christine Pinsent Waveney Community Forum chair said “This is an ideal opportunity to launch the sponsorship packages offered to help support the bus. As the bus is used in more than just the four towns the filming will highlight all the services that it can provide. It a great venue for all ages and it can go wherever it is required”

Indoors at last, the NHS “Exercise Referral” trainer demonstrated exercise is not just to keep the weight off. It can be helpful with many stable health conditions and with a referral from your GP, training sessions can be arranged.

With the launch of SmartWater for businesses now WPTV screens show householders how it can protect their household contents from burglars too. Gradually letters are sent to individual areas to offer the opportunity of the forensic science of Smartwater protection.

To find out how SmartWater works, what went on in the gym and where else the Waveney Partnership Television Crew went visit one of the WPTV screen venues located at Asda, Morrison’s and Tesco supermarkets, Lowestoft College, Waveney Sports & Leisure, Oulton Village Medical Centre, Adventure Island Play Park, Palmers Department Store, the Andaman Surgery and soon The Kirkley Centre, the new location for Waveney Community Forum.

“Getting on Screen” – Waveney community, voluntary groups are invited to send in their events, messages and filming ideas to place in the WPTV schedule. The deadline for filming proposals for “Getting on Screen” with the next “Moment of Fame” is 31st March 2010. Make WPTV local to you and have a “Moment of Fame” transmitted across Waveney.
