CREATIVE WRITING COURSES

BANK YOUR WORDS!

A SEASON OF CREATIVE WRITING COURSES AT THE BANK ARTS CENTRE, EYE BEGINS THIS OCTOBER!

The Bank Arts Centre is hosting a season of creative writing opportunities this autumn. It all kicks off with a day dedicated to the beauty of words on October, 15th 2014. Writer and WEA tutor Bel Greenwood leads a morning workshop – For the Joy of It and award-winning poet Dean Parkin is running a workshop in the afternoon to encourage the community to participate in the creation of ‘A Poem for Suffolk.’ An ambitious project to create a full length poem in response to the history, landscape, people and myths of the county.

The day is open to anyone in the community, young or old.  The workshop will be based on what might be included in the poem.  The finished work will be published in autumn 2015 and adapted for public performance to tour Suffolk in the autumn and winter of 2015.

The invasion of wordsmiths doesn’t stop there. From 22nd October until 10th December, there is a course in Short Story Writing. Designed to encourage both new and experienced writers to develop practical skills in producing short fiction and developing their imaginative and critical faculties in their own and others’ writing and for those with a passion to create compelling prose, the WEA course will run 10.30 to 12.30 for 7 weeks at a cost of £45.

For beginners or those who want to relax and explore their writing abilities, there is a new course, FOR THE JOY OF IT!  This course will explore creative potential, develop individual imagination and experiment with different forms and genres. After 15th October, this course will run from 1.30 to 3.30 pm on Wednesdays until 3rd December, 2014.   Booking is essential: 01379 873 495

‘Everyone can get something out of writing.  Sometimes, it is just having the opportunity to try something different and to surprise yourself and that’s the hook to write for a lifetime.’ Said WEA tutor, Bel Greenwood.
