Dance Camp East is a camping holiday with a difference
We will be 250 people of all ages, camping in circles of around 30, each around a central hearth-fire. The easy community of Circle life is a key element of the Camp, with shared music-making, childcare, cooking and daily chores. In addition, there will be opportunities to offer, and take part in a range of activities and workshops, covering music, dance, celebration, play, games, wellbeing and personal development.
Dance Camp East celebrated its 20th birthday in 2012. We’ve enjoyed an incredible two decades of gathering on green fields, under big skies, and building a vibrant creative community in East Anglia. And the future looks even brighter and more exciting – we hope you’ll want to share the embers, woodsmoke, stars and open skies. Put on your dancing shoes, grab a ukulele and come join us.
We focus on the magic that happens when ordinary people share their extraordinary skills, talents and ideas. We have a participative ethos, and emphasise responsibility for creating the Camp. Everyone buys a ticket and takes part on an equal basis; nothing is organised in advance and there are no designated workshop leaders or musicians – we find that this liberates enthusiastic amateurs, emerging teachers and budding musicians to have a go themselves.
