Dwile Flonking World Championships 2012

Dwile Floking Given Permission to Go Ahead Using Alcohol

Following the ban on using alcohol at the 2010 Dwile Flonking World Championships, North Norfolk licencing have had a change of heart and given their permission for real ale to be used during the games. Elmtree Beers of Snetterton have agreed to sponsor the event and it is one of their Ales that the Flonkers will be sampling.

The Pippin Flonkers will journey from Coventry to Norfolk on Saturday 11th August 2012 to defend their title at The Dog Inn, Ludham Bridge, Norfolk NR 29 5NY.

This year we have been approached by British film-maker Tim Plester whose last film, was the award-winning documentary WAY OF THE MORRIS, which received a limited-release in UK cinemas before being released on dvd to critical acclaim.

Details of this unusual and supposedly traditional Norfolk game can be viewed online at http://www.thenorfolkbroads.org/Dwile%20Flonking.html

This is a really fun day and previously drew media attention from all over the world at the inaugural championships in 2010. The issue of using Real Ale or Beer of some description this year is currently under negotiation and a statement will be issued as soon as a decision has been reached.

The Dog Inn serves good food and a selection of drinks and is situated at Ludham Bridge approximately half way between Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

If anyone staying for the weekend would also like to take a trip out on the beautiful Norfolk Broads, day boat hire is available at Ludham Bridge Boatyard just 300 yards away.

We are now actively looking for competitors to take part. Entry fees are just £1 per person for your team of ten.
