Easterly Artists Missing Banksy

Easterly Artists return with the latest in their series of acclaimed pop-up exhibitions, taking over a disused property at the top of Lowestoft High St, and transforming it into a vibrant contemporary art gallery.

This year’s show, Missing Banksy, is a tribute to the famous graffiti artist’s 2021 Spraycation tour of Lowestoft and the surrounding area, and also a reference to the fact that much of the work he left for the public to enjoy has since disappeared into private collections around the world.

There will be everything from street art and stencils to painting, pottery, ceramics, screen-printing, collage, collagraphs, lino-cut and leporello – all from some of the finest artists East Suffolk has to offer.

Sculptor and 3D-artist Laurence Edwards will open the exhibition. Laurence is well known locally for his 12ft high Yoxman figure outside Yoxford and his bronze Chthonic Head on Lowestoft Beach as part of this year’s First Light Festival.

Missing Banksy will take place at the old Poundstretcher building, 165 London Road North, Lowestoft NR32 1HG.

The exhibition is open from Friday 8th September until Sunday 17th September. All are welcome to the Preview at 7pm on Friday 8th September.

The exhibition, which is part of this year’s Heritage Open Days programme, is open every day from 10am to 5pm.

Entry is free and there is wheelchair access throughout.

All Easterly Artists members are practising artists living or working within a 20-mile radius of Ness Point, the UK’s most easterly location.

Getting there:

The gallery is on the corner of London Road North and Milton Road East, opposite the United Reformed Church and the “Volunteer” pub.

From the Old High Street (3 minutes): Walk South towards the station and cross the A47. Continue down the high street (London Road North): the gallery is on your right.

From Lowestoft Station (7 minutes): Cross the road and walk North up the pedestrianised High Street (London Road North): the gallery is on your left, at the top.
