CLO with cellist Matthew Barley and a wonderful programme that includes arrangements of South American music the Brazilian Antonio Carlos Jobim and the Argentinian founder of Nuevo Tango, Astor Piazzolla and culminates in Tavener’s gorgeous “Protecting Veil”, which helped him to become a household name in the 1990s.

Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham
Scotland’s best loved traditional musicians have toured together since 1988. Aly was a founder member of the ‘Boys of the Lough’ and his passionate fiddle playing has also found its way onto recordings by the likes of Eddie Reader and Richard Thompson. Accordion player Phil has been named as one of Scotland’s 25 most influential people and his mastery of the instrument has led to him working with the likes of Mark Knopfler, James Taylor, Rosanne Cash and Midge Ure.

The Big Chris Barber Band
Jazz Legend, Chris Barber, celebrates his 65th Anniversary as band-leader in 2014 with a Europe-wide concert tour. Inspired by the ‘King Oliver Creole Jazz Band’, Chris formed his first band in 1949 at the age of nineteen and has since gone on to become not only Europe’s most successful and influential bandleaders, but a bona fide jazz legend. With his 10-piece band, featuring a 7-strong front line, Chris plays a selection of his favourite traditional Jazz and Blues: from his roots in New Orleans style in ‘Bourbon Street Parade’ to the early music of Duke Ellington and Sidney Bechet … before going back to ‘When the Saints’!

Feast of Fiddles
2014 marks the 21st year this group of musical friends have taken to the road to entertain their growing legion of fans with a show of huge dynamic range, passionate and joyful playing and a liberal dose of fun.
Fiddlers Peter Knight (Steeleye Span), Chris Leslie (Fairport Convention), Phil Beer (Show of Hands), Brian McNeill (Battlefield Band), Ian Cutler (Bully Wee), Tom Leary (Zeus) and Garry Blakeley (Band of Two) add the large range of fiddle playing styles to the rock back-line of guitars, keyboards, sax and accordion – all held together by legendary drummer Dave Mattacks.
