Heritage Blues Orchestra
Take a journey down Highway 49 from Clarksdale to New Orleans, go from chain gangs to orchestra pits, church pews and back porches and hear the spirituals, gospel and blues of the African-American south. HBO spice up the grit of low-down country and urban blues with the bold brass of New Orleans, and punctuate the hand-clapping fervour of gospel with fiery jazz-infused horn arrangements.

Gisela João, aged 30, is the new fado singer now making waves in Portugal. She released her debut album in the summer of 2013 and it went straight to number 1 in the national charts.

Martin Simpson, Andy Cutting and Nancy Kerr are three of Britain’s finest folk musicians. Nancy Kerr has just won Folk Singer of the Year 2015 at the BBC Folk Awards and is a key member of The Full English band; Andy Cutting is a squeezebox master who has played live with The Who, Roger Daltry and Sting, amongst others; Martin Simpson is a multi-award winning musician, singer and songwriter and was nominated for Musician of the Year and for Best Album at the Folk Awards 2014.
