Friendly Muntjac Deer in Suffolk

A few days ago I was watching ‘The One Show’ on BBC TV and their wildlife reporter, Ellie Harrison, spent an hour in a hide to catch a glimpse of a Muntjac Deer.

I am used to getting close views of Muntjacs in Norfolk and Suffolk but I was rather suprised at this close encounter at Minsmere, Suffolk yesterday.

This little Muntjac was wandering between and under the picnic tables at the cafe and was taking food from people’s hands.

Is it usual for Muntjac Deer to be this tame or has this one overcome its nervousness to take advantage of a useful food source?
