Just thought you might like to read an article from our local newspaper. It’s all about retained firefighters applying for jobs as wholetime firefighters in Suffolk.

Only 13 out of 47 retained firefighters that made an application got through the first round.

Have a read and make your own mind up. I know what I think but it would be unwise of me to vent my spleen here.

One unsuccessful applicant said, “It is a bit of a blow really when you have got years of service going in at 2am and 3am and you have got commitment and loyalty and then you receive an email saying that you do not have the correct skills and attributes”.
