It’s been another busy month for the members of Harleston Camera Club, with several meetings, committee meetings and outings.

Our first outing of the month was on Sunday 28th August 2011, where small group of camera club members visited the Sainsbury Art Centre in Norwich to look at the two Photography exhibitions, John Hedgecoe’s the ‘Face of the Artist’ exhibition, and the life works of Dorothy Bohm. Everyone who looked at the Dorothy Bohm exhibition were blown away by the versatility of her works throughout the years.

Our next trip was to Gawdy Hall on Sunday 4th September, where a group of keen members braved the constant drizzle of rain and had a photo walk around the greenhouses, grounds and gardens. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable time, even when we got caught in a heavy rain storm!

On Monday 5th September we had another evening with Studio Photographer David Ruddles, he did another ‘Take control of your camera’ evening, where he broke down all the camera jargon for new members, as well as expanding on aperture, ISO settings etc for the rest of the group, and finished with a Q & A session.

On Saturday 10th September HCC also took part in the ‘Whats on in Harleston’ event hosted at The Swan Hotel in Harleston. Members of the HCC spent the morning talking to the public about what we do, and what’s coming up at the club, showing off some of our members photos in a mini exhibition, and having various slide shows of outings, and members photographs. This stirred a lot of interest up for out ever growing club!

Next week’s meeting is on Monday 19th September at the Archbishop High School from 7pm. This is an members only photography competition, with the topic of ‘The Natural World’. We welcome everyone to come join in with the viewing and critique of the photos. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to see what we do as a club!

After that the next meeting is on Monday 3rd October, where Rob Howarth will be coming and talking about his life as a Press photographer and on Monday the 17th October Geoff Bromley will be coming and giving our group a demonstration on how to use Photoshop to enhance and edit our photos.
