Lillian’s house is extraordinary, every surface is painted. Thousands of eyes peer from the windows and dream-like murals cover the walls; a playground shooting; a Chinese dragon; curses, poems, a girl without a face.
Lillian is eighty four and she is dead. As her family gather to sort out her affairs they are forced to question who their mother, aunt and grandmother truly was. What are the messages she has left for them on the walls of her home? What was she so desperate to say?
Do not go gentle, by internationally acclaimed playwright Suzan L Zeder, is a compelling piece of theatre. From the grievances, joys, disappointments and hopes of a ‘normal’ family, Zeder weaves a tale of self-discovery that will shock and intrigue and will appeal to a wide age-range, from teenagers upwards.
Dawn Symonds, well-known locally as a dynamic and charismatic actor, directs a talented cast that includes pupils from Archbishop Sancroft High School, Harleston, where the play is staged.
