It’s Grimm in Harleston

What happens to the evil queen at the end of Snow White? She no doubt comes to a sticky end, but in Harleston Players’ production of Grimm Tales her fate is very grim indeed – forced to dance until death in shoes of red hot iron. That’ll teach her.

Adapted by the poet laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, from the original tales of the Brothers Grimm, this collection of eight short plays captures the magic and mayhem of these extraordinary folk stories, that have scared and delighted children and adults for generations.

Some are familiar, but most will be new – simple tales like the Hare and the Hedgehog, who run a race. You can guess who wins, but how does he pull it off? Or Iron Hans, a coming of age tale about a boy who grows golden hair, and summons an army, helped by a terrifying wild man.

With a talented cast of children and adults, and music from the original west end production, Grimm Tales is a post-Christmas must-see. Evening and matinee performances at Archbishop Sancroft High School from Friday 29th January.

Tickets are available at Harleston Pet Stores.
