Heveningham Hall Country Fair Sunday 11th July 2010

Heveningham Hall is an 18th century estate set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. The Fair is has been running for 13 years, and last year over 8,000 people attended. Organised by a dedicated team of local volunteers, all proceeds go to the six village communities adjoining the estate and other worthy causes. There’s something for everyone from the dancing diggers to children’s entertainments. Come and join us!

Main Ring & Exhibits
The main ring offers an array of events throughout the day providing an exciting focal point. Outside the main ring there are many other attractions including the Sheep Show, a Rabbit Display, music, many children’s entertainments and much more. Below are a few of the attractions we have this year:

The Diggerland Dancing Diggers
Main Ring

Not to be missed the Diggerland JCB Stunt Team perform truly dare-devil stunts and formation dancing, intermingled with lots of comedy.

Drug Dog Demonstration
Main Ring

Informative demonstration of vehicle search, persons and baggage search and an explanation of training methods.

Eagle & Vulture Show
Main Ring

Unique show – you will come within inches of some of the most awe-inspiring birds in the world. Come and meet Sydney the Bald Eagle, Ernie the Eagle Owl, or Dyson the Griffon Vulture who will entertain you with their antics in the arena.

Cheshire Dog Display Team
Main Ring

A superb, entertaining and brilliant display of canine wizardry at its very best from exciting high speed agility races to fire jumping and police dog action.

Steamboat Rides

Enjoy a ride on Mr. Webster’s restored 1897 steamboat.

Suffolk Punches
Main Ring

The Suffolk Punch is the oldest breed of working horse in the world and is unique in its chesnut colour.

Outside Theatre
Orangery Area

Mouth to Mouth Theatre presents Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors The Bard meets Fawlty Towers meets Wind in The Willows, Shakespeare’s shortest (and silliest) play is brought to life in an anarchic, Hi Octane New production! A rip roaring farce for all the family. (Dogs! Cats! Toads! ) Ridiculous coincidences! Preposterous misunderstandings! Manic slapstick! 12.00 to 1.45 with a 15 minute interval.

Zahara Belly Dancers
Orangery Area

Zahara Belly Dance perform all over the county providing demonstrations of this wonderful dance form that originated centuries ago in the Middle East. The group is made up of dancers from amongst Henrietta’s belly dance classes which take place in and around Ipswich. The dances include a beautiful veil dance and several lively folkloric style dances with influences from Morocco and Upper Egypt.

Flower Show
This year’s theme for flower arrangers is “A Summer Wedding” and there are growers classes for the green-fingered. So come on all you flower arrangers and gardeners, here’s your chance to show off your talents! Please download the entry form here (PDF).

Sterling Helicopter Rides

High Lodge Clay Pigeon Shoot
Today we are giving everyone the chance to have a go at clay shooting. Come and have a go and chat to our friendly staff. www.highlodge.co.uk

Suffolk School of Samba
The Suffolk School of Samba brings the magic of the carnival to the Fair once again. Dancers and drummers performing all kinds of African and Brazilian music with accompanying choreography.

Bungee Ejection
Come and have a go on this white knuckle bungee experience with the exciting sensation of acceleration, the feeling of height at the summit of the ejection, a feeling of weightlessness and then a quick feeling of free-fall as you go down.

Classic Vehicles
Exhibition of classic/vintage cars, tractors and static & steam engines.

Sheep Show
Near Children’s Area

Not to be missed – a humourous, educational, live stage show all about sheep.

Raft Racing
1 team from each village + 1 from estate and 1 from hall. Heats held on Sunday morning from 10:45. Final held at 2pm. Raced over a course set on main lake. Rafts may be dropped off on Saturday afternoon and practice is available. Rafts must be home made. Design hints.
