Inspired by the US Masters? Get Into Golf Week is ready to tee-off around the County

The third Norfolk Golf Week will tee off in a couple of weeks time to inspire more people to start playing the game.

This year’s event – from 22-28 April 2013 involves 15 golf clubs and driving ranges and will offer free tasters to beginners and those returning to the game. These include sessions for couples, families and the over 60’s as well as those for women-only and men-only.

After each session, participants will be invited to the clubhouse for refreshments and to meet existing club members and hear about follow-on coaching opportunities. These include six-week courses of group lessons with PGA professionals from as little as £25 per person.

The week is run by the Norfolk County Golf Partnership, which brings together the men’s, women’s and professional organisations to grow the game in the County. It follow the US Masters championship when interest in golf, is on the upswing, ahead of the English summer, and is part of a festival of golf across the Eastern counties to support the national Get into Golf campaign.

Karen Young – County Development Officer for the Partnership commented: “Golf is a great game for everyone who enjoys friendship, fresh air and exercise and this is the perfect time of year to start. We’re very excited about Golf Week because Norfolk has so much to offer the beginner golfer. Our golf clubs and driving ranges are welcoming and accessible and they are working hard to encourage more people to play.”
