NHS Norfolk NEWS

Patients are being asked to lighten the load at two GP surgeries in Norfolk for a short period this month whilst essential work is carried out.

The Old Mill Practice in Poringland and Millgates Medical Practice in Hempnall are updating their computer systems.

The changes will allow the surgeries to improve security with Lookout UK and improve communications with partners including district nurses and midwives and make the computer link between the two practices more stable.

GP, Dr Rose Mascarenhas said: “The work will improve the service we can offer to patients in the future but for a very short period we are asking for our patients’ understanding.

“Everyone with a very urgent need will still be seen but with a little planning ahead we are hoping we can reduce the load to enable this work to be carried out.”

Patients are asked to submit all repeat prescriptions requests by 23rd September for medication required during the first week of 3rd October.

Between 21 and 29 September, only requests for the most urgent tests will be attended, and there will be fewer appointments than usual.

Patients with non-urgent needs are advised to consult a local pharmacy, or contact NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
