Legendary English singer-songwriter Steve Ashley is making a rare solo appearance at the Corn Hall, Diss at 8pm on Saturday 7 May.

Described by one critic as ‘one of the finest singer-songwriters in Britain, if not the entire English-speaking world’, Steve Ashley is a folk-rock performer of international renown. For 40 years, his songs have won the respect of critics and fellow-musicians alike, prompting cover versions by many leading folk artists including: Fairport Convention, Anne Briggs, Wizz Jones, Phil Beer and Martin Simpson. Steve also worked with author and film-maker Roger Deakin, providing a memorable musical soundtrack to Deakin’s much-loved documentary The Ballad of the Ten-Rod Plot..

His award-winning debut album “Stroll On” (Gull, 1974) is now widely regarded as a folk-rock classic and his most recent release for Topic Records “Time and Tide” was described by fROOTS as ‘a modern day masterpiece’.

A former member of The Albion Country Band, Ragged Robin and his own Steve Ashley Band, Steve has also performed with members of Fairport Convention.
