MID-NORFOLK RAILWAY PRESERVATION TRUST

The Wymondham-Dereham-North Elmham-County School Line

Chairman Barry Woodgett has e-mailed Working Volunteers with his thanks for their support over the last 12 months………..
“My congratulations and sincere thanks to all volunteers who gave up their time and whose work contributed to the continued success of the MNR, during 2011.
Major projects were undertaken such as the renewal of Yaxham level-crossing and the gauging work to enable King Edward II to operate on the MNR, giving us a 3 month steam service this year. We had 3 successful galas, 2 diesel and 1 steam.
Mention also needs to be made of the day in and day out endeavours of our volunteer operational staff working the normal services, crossing keepers and Thuxton signallers, station staff including ticket offices and buffet and also on train catering staff. Volunteers who work in all weathers on the pway, drains and fencing (and weedkilling) and those who maintain rolling stock and locomotives in the open.
This email is a big thank you to all MNR volunteers and wishing you all a happy new year and look forward to 2012 and continued development of the railway.
Best wishes for 2012″
Stephen Smith our Finance Director has advised….
“Most recently, and despite the current economic climate, the MNR’s Santa trains were only 50 customers short of the 2010 figures; but still 200 in excess of 2009.”
