Between the Cracks
Written & directed by Danusia Iwaszko
Designer Rachael Canning
Lighting design Marc Zabroski

Linda’s world veers crazily between the dazzling and the dark. Supersensitive to the feel and the colour of things, she battles to find an easy way to dwell with the darlings and the demons that are part of herself. She is funny and creative and she has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder- hard for her to understand, and harder still for those who care for her.

A collaboration between Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk MIND.
Supported by Suffolk County Council’s ‘Prevention Fund’

Performance followed by Q&A. Please share your feelings with people who have complex mental health problems.

PERFORMANCE
Friday 21 May 7.30pm
Short Cuts Cabaret & Open Mic Night
Suffolk’s first real variety show
Tickets £5

Kickstart summer at Short Cuts Cabaret with special guest Tim Turnbull, one of the punchiest and funniest of stand-up poets.

Combining formal dexterity with a dynamic and anarchic stage presence, Tim was the winner of ‘The Contenders’ Performance Poetry Fellowship in 2006, and his book of poems Stranded in Sub-Atomic was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Performance poetry comes of age.

With its heady mix of comedy, music, spoken word, live poetry and audience participation – plus all the usual strange or stupendous Open Mic talent (you’re never too young or too old to strut your stuff!) – nothing about Short Cuts is strict except the guarantee of a fantastic evening’s entertainment.

Hosted by Dean Parkin (think Eric Morecambe crossed with Philip Larkin, plus champion sideburns), with jazz and boogie-woogie maestro Maurice Horhut at the piano.

Maurice can offer top-class, supportive accompaniment to any singer, instrumentalist or performer – just ask when applying for an Open Mic slot. Contact Dean on 01986 835950 or [email protected]

Funny Face (U)

Tickets on door £4
Dir: Stanley Donen, USA, 1956, 103 min.
With Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Kay Thompson, Michel Auclair.

Here we have a truly ‘Golden Oldie’ that offers escapism of the best possible kind. With two such charismatic stars heading the cast it cannot fail to sweep you off your feet. Hepburn, a bookshop assistant, is discovered by the editor of a fashion magazine who is looking for a ‘quality woman’. Astaire is the photographer who will immortalise her beauty. It’s not long before romance is in the air.
