Norfolk band set for marathon run at world’s biggest arts festival

7 July Norwich gig previews up to 212 individual Edinburgh Fringe shows from art-rockers

Norfolk based art-rock mavericks The Neutrinos are planning marathon run of shows at August’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival – and a special preview gig at Norwich Arts Centre on Friday 7 July, their first full gig in the city for 18 months.

Under their arts collective banner, KlangHaus the band will perform an exhausting string of at least 170 shows and potentially up to 212 at the Scottish festival. That’s two previews, then between 8 and 10 shows a day for 21 days! The Edinburgh Fringe is renowned as the biggest arts festival in the world with thousands of performances taking place every day throughout August, performers travel from all over the world to take part.

There will be two KlangHaus shows in Edinburgh. KlangHaus: InHaus is an intimate deconstruction of the live music experience in a domestic setting. The audience become integral to the show, immersed in the present, the sound, the lights with the music soaring around them. KlangHaus: Darkroom is a climate change wake-up call for a single audience member at a time. It’s a new version of a show they performed at Glasgow’s COP26 International Climate Change Conference. Both will perform multiple times daily and the band are investigating whether it may set a new record.

The Norwich show will be more of a straightforward gig at which The Neutrinos will play a selection of tunes old and new (including previews of songs from each Fringe show). in their trademark style, the music will swoop from the thunderously loud to pindrop quiet – and right back again! Special guests on the night will be Norwich inventive experimentalists Birds of Hell. Tickets available at www.norwichartscentre.co.uk

The band’s new album ‘Noise Please’, the noisy counterpart to last year’s more contemplative ‘Ordinary Things’ release, is slated to hit the airwaves in time for the gig.

Singer Karen Reilly said ‘We’ll be previewing some of the songs from the two Edinburgh shows at NAC as well as some favourites, we really wanted to play them to a home crowd first. And Norwich Arts Centre have our huge thanks for supporting us both at this gig and for invaluable support in getting the shows to Edinburgh.

‘A Neutrinos show will leave you dazed, shocked, maybe scared, but certainly thrilled’ World of Gigs, USA

The Neutrinos have been at the cutting edge of music making for 20 years. Their original KlangHaus show deconstructed the way a rock gig works. It became a smash hit at the Edinburgh Festival before going on to sell out over 100 performances at London’s Royal Festival Hall. The Times described them as ‘A blast of aural and visual magic’ in a 5 star review.

‘Breathes a lungful of fresh air into gig-going and theatre alike’ The Sunday Times (on KlangHaus)

The Neutrinos are Jon Baker bass, synths, vocals; Mark Howe vocals, guitar; Jeron Gundersen drums, percussion; Karen Reilly vocals, percussion. They have been hailed as ‘total game changers‘ by The Guardian and ‘truly outstanding’ by The Daily Telegraph.

‘Throbbing art-punk noise and sexy urgent energy’ Time Out New York
