Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton

Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum,
Flixton, nr. Bungay

Starting on Monday 1st April 2013, the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton will be open from Sunday to Thursday – 10.00am until 5.00pm.

Let’s hope our region, and the Waveney Valley in particular, has a good year for visitors after the drop in numbers in 2012, due to the London Games and regular periods of poor weather.

Some information about us:

– We have over 60 aircraft of every kind plus 25,000 artefacts to view in 3 hangars and 8 themed buildings.

– Our 8-acre site is operated by volunteers and 1 paid staff member

– over 39,000 visitors in 2011 from all over the country

– Free admission but donations welcomed

– We are a Registered Charity, a Limited Company and an Accredited Museum

– We hold special events, reunions and club meets on Sundays through the Summer months

– We offer light refreshments, shop, bricabrac stalls, raised boardwalk to the River Waveney

– We are one of the biggest attractions to be found in the picturesque Waveney Valley

– We are a popular venue for school visits, and members visit residential care homes with a selection of memorabilia to help rekindle memories

– Our President since 1976 is Wing Commander Ken Wallis MBE of James Bond autogyro fame.  His biography – The Lives of Ken Wallis – is our most popular fund-raiser.  First written in 2001 by Ian Hancock, the 5th Edition has just been released and is available (£12.50 signed) from the shop.

We also sell a 100-minute DVD of Ken – Born to Bond – (£9.95) – a visual companion to the book.

– We were formed as a result of a meeting called by local aviation enthusiasts late in 1972.

– The Buck Inn is adjacent to the museum and offers
superb meals. We have local B&Bs too.
