The Norfolk Tourist Attractions Association (NTAA), which represents more than 60 visitor attractions across the county, has announced the appointment of a new Membership Manager.

Paul Dickson joins the company after a many years working in the tourist industry within the county and has lived in Norfolk since 1988. A former Marketing & Communications Manager for The National Trust in East Anglia, he has worked for the last 16 years as a freelance marketing and public relations consultant, with clients primarily in the arts, heritage and tourism sectors. He is also the co-author of Miracle in Kigali, the story of Illuminée Nganemariya and her son Roger’s survival during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and their subsequent life in Norwich.

NTAA Chairman, Martin Dupée said: “It is with great pleasure that I announce that Paul is joining us knowing that his knowledge and experience will be most valuable in helping to develop and support tourist attractions across the county whilst offering a new direction for the organisation in the future. Paul will be helping us work more closely together, improving relationships with our members, and ensuring that our ‘voice’ is heard on tourism issues that particularly effect attractions.”

“By working together, we can make precious marketing resources go further and increase the numbers of visitors to our businesses.  Attractions have had quite a mixed year in 2014 with some reporting a really strong season. The challenge for the industry is to deliver sustainable growth across all types of attraction.”

Paul Dickson said: “I am really looking forward to working with NTAA, helping the members make the most of the collaborative marketing opportunities on offer and raising the profile of this important sector in the visitor economy.  I will also be looking to grow NTAA’s membership and encourage more Suffolk attractions to join us in our flagship Great Days Out in Norfolk & Suffolk brochure.”

“Our Annual Members’ Meeting is at Davenport’s Magic Kingdom on Tuesday, November 4. Speakers booked include Sarah Roots from Warner’s Harry Potter Studio Tour and Jonathan Winchester from Shoppers Anonymous.  I am looking forward to meeting members there and discussing how we can better work together, at what will be both a magical and inspirational event.”

NTAA was founded in 1992 and leads the sector in marketing attractions through the Great Days Out in Norfolk & Suffolk brochure – some 400,000 are distributed throughout the East of England and www.norfolktouristattractions.co.uk and its associated app.

NTAA also promotes quality in the visitor attractions sector by sponsoring the Berry Savory Award for best large and small visitor attraction at the annual EDP Norfolk Tourism Awards; by requiring all its members to sign and adhere to Visit England’s visit attractions’ charter and by encouraging members to join Visit England’s Visitor Attractions’ Quality Assurance Scheme.
