NORWICH MUSIC PRODUCER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Ivor R.Hosgood MBE has announced his retirement as the producer of the annual Young Musicians’ Concert following a long period of ill-health.

His fellow trustees join him to say ‘Thank-You’ to the concert-going public’s support of this series over the last 36 years and 266 events in various Norwich venues.

The outstanding talents of numerous young Norfolk musicians have been only too evident time and time again.

The excellent support provided by their more mature piano accompanists must also be acknowledged.

Most of these young musicians have gone on to further education in the country’s music colleges, academies and schools, leading to a career in the crowded and difficult world of professional music.

For example, the violinists David Brind (former BBC Young Musician of the Year 1986) and Alex Redington (a winner of the Norfolk Young Musician Competition 1993 and a founder-member of the Doric Quartet) are just two who come to mind.

The trustees continue to wish them and many others who have delighted Norwich audiences all possible success in their work and careers.

It is expected that a decision on the future of the trust will be made in late January 2015.

Mr Hosgood retains the office of Chairman-Secretary.
