NOT Strictly Ballroom Back in Kessingland

Saturday 9th April 2011 8pm to 11pm Tickets £5.00
Kessingland Sports & Social Club, Francis Road, Kessingland

After the success of the first NOT Strictly Ballroom dance at its new venue in Kessingland Sports & Social Club, the popular event returns this weekend.

With its ‘Saturday Night Out’ feeling, using modern upbeat and recent chart music that has suitable dance timing and some fun dances too, their guests have an enjoyable social evening as well as being able to dance.

With the increased interest in Ballroom and Latin dancing over the last few years, since Strictly Come Dancing hit our TV screens, there has proved to be a gap for dancers wanting to have a good old Saturday Night Out.

There are plenty of younger people learning to dance but many of them find the current crop of weekend dances are not what they’re looking for. Many dances are aimed at sequence and a different audience.

Not Strictly Ballroom events are well established in the Great Yarmouth area and the format is proving very popular with beginners and more experienced dancers alike.

Roy and Gill Gough started learning Ballroom Dancing 6 years ago. They are not competition dancers, nor dance teachers – they just enjoy dancing. It lifts the spirits, is good exercise, great fun and they’ve met many new friends too.

The death of Diane Mackenzie, charismatic owner of the Tower Ballroom Club in Gorleston, had left Saturday nights without a dancers’ social evening out in the area. The Dance Festival in Great Yarmouth, last summer, showed the considerable number of people who would like something a bit different.
