I’m sure you have noticed we have been bombarded with more Road Signs, different colours, shapes and sizes.

BUT one big problem, they are covered up by uncut hedges and trees, I think this year has been the worst.

Many speed signs are tucked back in the hedge rows, you approach a bend and the warning sign is not there, oops sorry it is, but its covered up, these situations are making driving very dangerous.

It is not helpful to our foreign drivers and especially the ones we have to train to keep on the left….

This is causing a Health and Safety problem within the Environment, and of course many drivers do not know what some signs mean and struggle to understand.

But we will soon see the biggest review in 40 years, and many road users will be asked their views.

Are there signs which could be taken down as their not really necessary, one Council is removing direction signs to the local Pub BECAUSE this could lead to encourage DRINK DRIVING! WOW the landlords are not liking this one.

One survey has taken place on what Drivers list as top 10 of road signs:

In First place – a sign for a CASH MACHINE NEARBY
Second – a sign for a Wi Fi Hotspot
Third – a sign for a Fast Food Drive Thru

We must make sure everyone is aware of road signs and there meaning, make sure we can all see them and they are easy to read, perhaps put them higher up in order not to restrict views at junctions.

Lets hope another survey does not ask the question WHY did the Scarecrow win an award… …then find the answer further down the road on the next lamp post… …BECAUSE he was outstanding in his field…
