OPEN-AIR THEATRE RETURNS TO REDWINGS CALDECOTT

Redwings is excited for the return of open-air theatre at Caldecott Visitor Centre in Norfolk next month.

Cambridge Touring Productions’ family-friendly performance of The Reluctant Dragon is on Thursday 11th August and King Arthur is on Tuesday 16th August, both starting at 5pm, and tickets are on sale now.

The Reluctant Dragon tells the story of the touching friendship between a dragon and a boy, and the boy’s plan to save his poetry-writing new friend from the preconceptions of the townsfolk.

King Arthur tells the story of a boy who pulled a sword from a stone and became King. The re-telling of the legend includes live music, physical comedy, lo-fi acrobatics and mediocre magic.

Rosie Humphries from Cambridge Touring Productions, who has been putting on family theatre productions for 25 years, said:

“It’s the second year running that we have been invited to Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Fritton, near Great Yarmouth, and we can’t wait to be back at the beautiful Visitor Centre.

“These are really fun, inventive and interactive performances with a family audience in mind. Everyone is encouraged to get actively involved – if your child wants to eat an ice cream or munch on snacks, have a jump about, or shout at the actors, it’s all part of the fun.”

The performances normally last just under two hours including a twenty-minute interval.

Leanne Plumtree, Senior Press Officer at Redwings, said: “We can’t wait to host these wonderful family-friendly events at Redwings Caldecott and really hope our supporters can come along.

“You can further support our work by purchasing pre-performance supper tickets, available in advance only, for The Reluctant Dragon and King Arthur.

“And, of course, if you’d like to combine your visit with seeing the horses, ponies, donkeys and mules we’d love you to do that too, just arrive before 3pm to make sure you have enough time to enjoy a visit.”

More about Redwings: A registered charity, Redwings Horse Sanctuary was established in 1984 and has grown to be the largest horse sanctuary in the UK, working to save horses, ponies, donkeys and mules whose future would otherwise be bleak. Redwings is currently responsible for over 2,000 rescued horses and donkeys across the UK, including 700 living out on permanent loan in Guardian homes.
