Pakefield Postcard Auction 2014
An auction of original pocket sized art raises funds for EACH
Ferini Art Gallery is hosting a postcard auction to raise funds for
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The Pakefield Postcard Auction, organised by the Ferini Art Gallery in Pakefield, will take place on Wednesday 17 September. Fifty artists, both professional and amateur, have produced postcard sized original art in a range of mediums, including textiles, plaster and paint, pencil, pen and ink, lino cut, watercolour and oil. The auction includes postcards by local artists Mark Burrell, John Patchett, Sam Capps and Gordon Songer, as well as the Lowestoft porcelain artist and the Marvel Comic artist.
What a great chance to own a piece of original art by some great local artists!
All funds raised through the event will go to EACH, which supports children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex. The charity’s care and support is tailored to the needs of all family members and delivered where the families wish – in their own home, at hospital, in the community or at one of three hospices in Ipswich, Milton and Quidenham.
They deliver a wide range of services through short-break care, emotional and psychological support, symptom management, care at end of life, bereavement support and many activities and therapies. For both families accessing care, and those who have been bereaved, EACH is a lifeline at an unimaginably difficult time. All funds raised through the event will go to the Quiddenham hospice in Norfolk.
The postcards can be seen at the Ferini Art Gallery on All Saints Road, Pakefield, as part of their annual summer exhibition. They can also be seen online on the gallery’s facebook page. Bidding will start online, culminating in the live auction on 17 September.
Gemma Smith, EACH Suffolk Fundraiser, said: “This is such an innovative way of raising vital funds for EACH. The postcards are really impressive and we’re gearing up for a great event. We are so grateful to the Ferini Art Gallery and all the artists who have donated their time and expertise to be involved.”
The auction will take place at Pakefield Church Hall, Causeway, Pakefield Street, Lowestoft, NR33 0JZ
on Wednesday 17 September at 6.30pm
and will include live music, a raffle and cheese and wine.
