Beccles Panto goers will be ables will be able to enjoy the festive magic while tucking into some special sweet treats thanks to this year’s main sponsor.

SparkLive Pantomimes will return to the town’s Public Hall this Christmas with a rousing rendition of family favourite Dick Whittington.

And for the first time the production will be sponsored by a leading independent shop.

Vanessa and Paul Kisby, owners of Sweeties, the traditional sweet shop in New Market, have just celebrated their first year in business and have chosen to mark it by supporting the seasonal spectacular.

Affectionately known as Mr and Mrs Sweeties, Vanessa and Paul will be at each performance selling bags of pantomime sweets, with each delectable piece of confectionary specially chosen for the way it relates to the show.

Vanessa said: “There will obviously be gold coins in the bag as well as some chocolate mice. Everything we choose will be applicable to Dick Whittington.

“The response we have had during our first 12 months has been overwhelming. The community have been behind us all the way and now we are established we thought it was the right time to give something back.

“We went to see the pantomime last year for the first time and we thought it was absolutely brilliant,” said Paul.

“Everyone loves sweets and everyone loves a pantomime – the two go together perfectly. We are looking forward to getting into the spirit of the occasion and we hope to have a pantomime themed window during the festive period.”

Ryan Holt, producer of Dick Whittington said: “We are absolutely delighted to have a fantastic local business such as Sweeties on board as our sponsor this year. Ironically Daniel Hanton’s character is called Dame Sarah Sweetie, so it couldn’t be more perfect.”

Dick Whittington runs from December 20 to January 1 for 14 performances.

A family ticket for two adults and two children is £44, adults are £13, children, £11 and concessions are £12.
