Mon 2 Jul – Sat 8 Sept
The Forum in Norwich is laying on a scorching, ten week programme of FREE entertainment, exhibitions and activities as part of the 2012 celebrations.
Just some of the highlights are outdoor dance shows, free rock n roll classes, international street theatre, open air cinema, a retro video game studio and top quality digital, contemporary and photographic art.
Free rock ‘n’roll classes
The Forum’s Marketing Manager, Jayne Evans, says,
“Summer at The Forum starts the week the Olympic torch comes to town and we’ll be keeping up the momentum until the Paralympics end in September.
“This is a massive summer for the whole country and Summer at The Forum is our way of making sure both the local community and visitors to Norwich enjoy 2012.”
The Forum is a great place to enjoy the arrival of the Olympic torch relay on Wed 4 Jul. The City Council has installed a giant screen on Millennium Plain, which will carry live footage of the relay razzmatazz from midday till 7.30pm.
Retro mass tea dances
Either side of that massive celebration The Forum is hosting open air tea dances, rock n roll classes, al fresco cinema and an exhibition of stage costumes, photographs and archive dance footage.
It’s all part of Big Dance 2012 – the UK’s biggest ever celebration of dance involving thousands of events across the country.
Gigantic LunchBox acts
Summer at The Forum continues through July and August with two weeks of LunchBox street theatre, three weeks of Retro Arcade 3, BBC Norfolk’s Children and Young People’s Film Festival, food and craft markets, photography and art exhibitions and much, much more.
