Waveney Light Opera Group

Following hot on the heels of the smash hit successes of
Little Shop of Horrors and Disco Inferno
next April WLOG will be presenting another ‘dancing in the aisles’ musical in Beccles Public Hall.

It’s the classic cult musical comedy that took the West end by storm

Return to the
Forbidden Planet

which is based (very loosely) on The Tempest with a love story that has a hint of Romeo & Juliet and a script that Shakespeare might have found a little familiar – but may wish he hadn’t – all done in the style of a 1950s B-movie! The show is packed with a galaxy of classic rock ‘n’ roll songs including Great Balls of Fire, Good Vibrations, Shake Rattle & Roll, Teenager In Love, and The Young Ones.

Stage Director, John Cushing, says: “There are lots of opportunities for acting, singing and dancing in the show and we hope that anybody interested in performing or helping backstage will come along to our information evening on Monday 10th November. The show features a roller skating robot called Ariel and although the stage at Beccles Public Hall is not very big, providing our robot is fairly nimble there should be no problems…..!”

The information evening will be in the Quaker Hall, Smallgate, Beccles at 7.30pm and, with Musical Director, Chris Steed, John will be on hand to talk about the show, the music, the story and the characters and provide details about the auditions that the group will be holding for the main roles in the production.

So set your ray guns to stun and get ready for a cosmic adventure of meteoric proportions! If you want to take part or get involved in any way go along to the preview or telephone: 01502 712329 or e-mail: [email protected] for more details.
