North-Walsham-Rock-School

North Walsham rocks!

A new ‘Rock School’ for young people who want to play in a band starts at The Atrium in North Walsham on Thursday May 2.

The weekly band skills session is aimed at 13 to 18 year olds who are learning instruments or who like to sing. The young musicians will work with tutors from Community Music East (CME) on their instrument, songwriting and performance skills. There will be an opportunities to play gigs, including Norwich Sound & Vision festival in October.

Clara Wiseman from CME said: “Rock School’s been very popular in Norwich for several years, so we’re looking forward to rolling it out to other areas in Norfolk. The Atrium is a fantastic place for musicians, with fully equipped rehearsal studios and performance spaces. From rock to rap, punk to pop – all genres are welcome!”

CME will be extending its music programme at The Atrium in the summer with DJing and music technology courses.

Rock School is every Thursday 6pm to 8pm, May 2 to July 18, priced £2 per session. Places are limited and must be booked in advance at www.cme.org.uk or 01603 283379.

Rock School is supported by Youth Music and North Norfolk District Council.
