Royal Observer Corps at Home Day

Sunday 21st September 2014
10.00 – 17.00

Our last event of the year!  Three have been severely affected by rain so we have to hope the weather will be kind to us.

Sunday 21st Sept. is “ROC At Home Day”
(The Royal Observer Corps was stood down in 1991).

We have a large collection of artefacts in our ROC No. 6 Group Museum building and members will be explaining the equipment used.

We are always pleased to receive items to swell the collection.

The event is held annually (all are welcome) and centres around the afternoon concert by the Super Swing Big Band (2.00-4.00).

Also, there will be:

– the Wyndham Old Timers Car Club,

– some aviation stalls (such as “The Vulcan To The Sky”) and an aviation book sale,

– simulator “flights”,

– a flypast by a Spitfire mid-day.

– Victoria Bacon (wife of Richard Bacon MP) will also be signing copies of her book “Six Weeks of Blenheim Summer” – An RAF

Officer’s Memoir of the Battle of France 1940.  (Her grandfather)

Free admission as usual but we do ask for donations to offset the cost of the band.
