AWARD WINNING TRIBUTES HEADING FOR MADDERMARKET THEATRE

Lorrie Brown, the UK No.1 Vera Lynn tribute will be performing at the Maddermarket Theatre Norwich on Feb 4th in a matinee performance of ʻA Salute to the 1940ʼsʼ. Lorrie has just won the award from the Agents Association of Great Britain for her portrayal of the forces sweetheart.

The show is a good old fashioned 1940ʼs variety showʼ says Gary Birtles, producer of the show, ʻWe have got several tributes to the stars of the 40ʼs including George Formby, Gracie Fields, The Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra and Lorrieʼs tribute to Dame Vera Lynn

The show is now in itʼs 5th year of touring and has performed all around the country with several of the dates selling out.
Gary continues ʻWe love performing this show because generally the people who come to see it have memories of the war and the songs have a lot of meaning to them. Especially songs like ʻA Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Squareʼ which is performed by Lorrie as Vera Lynnʼ. Lorrie has been performing her tribute for 18yrs and in that time has performed twice to the Chelsea Pensioners and spent 2 yrs touring with Danny La Rue.

Venues she has performed in include, Blackpool Opera House, Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Bournmouth Pavillion and West Ham F.C on the pitch at half time to a crowd of 33,000 during a game with Everton on Remembrance Sunday 2009.

The show is held together by Gary as Air Raid Warden Braithwaite. ʻI have an authentic wardens helmetʼ says Gary, ʻI have heard that the spirit of the gentleman who owned it has stayed with it and follows us round enjoying the shows, I call him George.
We try to make him feel at home too by decorating the stage with webbing, flags, posters and bunting. People get a real buzz when they walk into the theatre with the atmosphere we createʼ.

As well as Lorrie, the show has another award winner, Tony Martin, who portrays G.I Frank Sinatra, is part of the UKʼs No1 Rat Pack show and has performed in the West End.

Tickets for the show are £10 and available from the Box Office on 01603 620917 For more details about the show go to the website at
