SCOTTISHPOWER RENEWABLES TO CREATE THE 3,100 MW EAST ANGLIA HUB OFFSHORE WIND DEVELOPMENT

Statement on 29th November 2019: In order to increase the speed of development of offshore wind power in the UK, ScottishPower Renewables has announced that it intends to combine three projects (East Anglia ONE North, TWO and THREE) into one single delivery programme with a capacity of 3,100 megawatts (MW), which will be known as The East Anglia Hub.  The three projects will be procured together with a continuous installation programme.

The initial 1,400 MW (East Anglia THREE) already has planning consent. Planning applications for the further 1,700 MW (split between East Anglia ONE North, and East Anglia TWO) have been submitted.

Ross Ovens, East Anglia Hub project director at ScottishPower Renewables said: “Our East Anglia ONE project is already delivering significant benefits to East Anglia and across the UK. The East Anglia Hub will build on this, bringing further jobs, training and investment to the region.

“The East Anglia Hub projects could provide enough clean energy to power the equivalent of over 2.7 million homes*, which would make an important contribution to the net zero target.”

Overall investment required will be in the region of £6.5 billion. ScottishPower Renewables hopes to confirm the major suppliers within the next 10 months.
