Separate Tables

Separate Tables

The Public Hall team is delighted to welcome back the very talented Open Space Theatre Company, who brought us an excellent production of one of Alan Ayckbourn’s finest and darkest comedies, Woman in Mind, in May this year.

“This time, they will be serving up another helping of wonderful drama at the Hall – please come and support this local company who will be presenting Terence Rattigan’s marvellous Separate Tables on Wednesday 26th November at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm)” said Sue Bergin, Event Coordinator.

Affection, love and desire linger on within lives blighted by loneliness and disappointment in this classic drama set in a small seaside hotel in the 1950s. Rattigan’s sensitive portrayal of middle class hypocrisy is packed with humour and compassion.

In the first of the two one-act plays which comprise Separate Tables the stormy relationship between an ex-MP and his former wife is laid bare as they meet years after their troubled marriage dissolved into acrimony.  The friendship between a shy young woman and a retired Army officer is depicted in the second play which explores the seedy intolerance of individuals clinging to the strict social and sexual codes of a bygone era.

Buy tickets at £9.50 and £8.50, concessions on-line at www.becclespublichall.com or visit the Hall Box Office from Monday to Saturday, 10am – 3pm. Bar open all evening.
