RAFA Beccles and Southwold Area Branch (1214)
November 11th Service of Remembrance, 2009

On Sunday, 8th November, the Branch Paraded and in Company with The Royal British Legion and many others, our Standard was present to Salute our Fallen Comrades, Branch Members Hon. Treasurer Mrs Margaret Atkins and RAFALO W/O Bruce Holliday of RAF Honington, laid the RAFA Wreath at the Beccles War Memorial. Branch Chairman Mr Brian Vousden, being associated to both, laid Wreaths to The Aircrew Association and to RAF Coastal Command and Maritime Air Association.

Branch Members then paraded to march to St Michaels Church, Beccles, to attend the Service conducted by the Rev. John Beauchamp. Following the Service, the march continued to the Royal British Legion Club in Ravensmere, Beccles for a Reception given by the RBL.

Following the Sunday Parade, the Branch attended the Remembrance Service held in Exchange Square, Beccles on Wednesday, 11th November where many hundreds of the Public joined with Members of the Armed Services and Veterans with their Standards, to pay Homage to the Sacrifice of the Fallen of both World Wars and other Conflicts. The Parade under the Direction of the Parade Marshall, Mr Ted Thompson RN, observed a two minutes Silence at 11.00 A.M.

Around 30 wreaths were laid
