Magdalen Village Hall

A celebration of the songs which lit the darkest days of World War One

Magdalen Village Hall invites you to ‘Pack up your troubles and sing sing sing’

In a show specially created to mark the centenary commemorations of the outbreak of World War One, Magdalen Village Hall are welcoming back historical musicians ‘Blast from the Past’ with their new show ‘Smile! Smile! Smile!’ on Thursday 30th October 2014 at 7.30pm, with support from the arts and community development charity Creative Arts East.

Smile! Smile! Smile! pays tribute to those who were lost in “the war to end all wars” with an uplifting celebration of the songs which kept the spirits of the nation up, both at home and on the front, during the dark days of the First World War, and which remain a part of the nation’s musical heritage. A combination of popular songs of the day, music hall numbers, poems set to music and original compositions celebrate the courage and the humour of our forebears in music which has been passed down through the generations.

You can see ‘Smile! Smile! Smile!’ at Magdalen Village Hall

on Thursday 30th October at 7.30pm.

This event is organised in partnership with Creative Arts East with funding by The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Norfolk County Council and the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.
