Woodbridge 42 – Southwold 32

The home side’s forwards dominated, in the Southwold half, for the majority of the opening stage of the match.

The result was that the visitors gave away a penalty. Minutes later Southwold broke out of their half and were awarded a penalty to level the scores.

Woodbridge came back from the restart and capitalised on Southwold’s mistakes, a try was scored and converted.

The visitor’s defense sharpened up and they scored a try. Woodbridge replied with a penalty taking the tally to 20 – 8 at half time.

Southwold defense, in the second half, moved up a gear and having gained more possession, trys by Barton and Block followed.

Both were converted by Middleditch, who also slotted a penalty leaving the score at 25 -25 on 80 minutes.

As this was a cup game extra time followed.

Southwold raised their game and were awarded a penalty try.

Woodbridge also scored and converted, they scored again with a penalty and won the day.
