The competition for the business and individual with the best customer service in Saxmundham and IP17 area, organised by Businesses of Saxmundham (BoS), has grabbed the town’s imagination beyond anyone’s expectations with over 500 nominations.
Saxmundham is clearly streets ahead with customer service based on customers’ comments “Exceptional attention to detail, full of laughter, hot drinks and always so kind”, “Good customer skills and builds good relationships” and “Always willing to help and go that extra distance”. The impressive panel of judges tasked to decide on the winners are Dr Therese Coffey MP, Lady Caroline Cranbrook, Mrs Jenny Stockman (Chair of HCMTI) and Clive Denton (Manager at Waitrose Saxmundham). The BoS Committee has presented the judges with five finalists for both categories and the businesses with the most votes (in no particular order) are Hair Studio, Angels Beauty Clinic, Fishers Home Hardware, The Store and Ipswich Building Society.
Organised by BoS with the full backing and support of HCMTI (Heritage Coast Market Towns Initiative), Vice Chairman of BoS Peter Ewart is delighted with the response, “We constantly seek ways to improve the business environment within the IP17 area and we felt it vital for everyone living, working and shopping here to have their say. The response has been extraordinary and it’s wonderful to see recognition for the outstanding level of service which customers enjoy in and around the town. It’s a credit to all the staff and businesses who have been nominated”.
Waitrose, renowned for their high level of customer service (although ineligible due to their generous sponsorship), have played a key part in the competition. There will also be a prize worth £100 of Waitrose vouchers for the lucky winner drawn from all those that cast their vote during the competition.
The award ceremony, hosted by Waitrose Manager Clive Denton, will take place at 7pm on Monday 14th April at the Waitrose Café in Saxmundham.
