Chantry Library Walking Book Group

Chantry Library is holding its next walking book group this Sunday (28 September). The three mile walk starts from the library in Hawthorn Drive at 1.30pm and will visit Gippeswyk and Chantry Parks before returning to the library for refreshments. There is a cost of £2 for adults to cover refreshments and children are welcome.

During the walk the group will discuss the ‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak which was recently made into a film.

In October the group will have a special walk through Bourne Park, accompanied by a park ranger. This will take place on Sunday 26h October at 1.30, again meeting at Chantry Library. The suggested book for October is ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime’ by Mark Haddon. Anyone is welcome to join in even if they’ve not read the book.

Quiz and chips at Beccles Library

Beccles Library is holding a quiz & chips night next Wednesday (1 October 2014) with the Mayor of Beccles Caroline Topping acting as quizmaster. The event takes place from 7pm and tickets are £5 for a team of four people with chips provided.  Please contact the library on 01502 714073 to book your place.

More time to catch up on DVD box sets

Suffolk Libraries has increased the loan period for DVD box sets which can be borrowed from the library. The hire charge will remain at £2 but has been increased from one week to two to give customers more time to watch all the episodes, following feedback from customers. The new loan period is now effective for any box sets borrowed from any of Suffolk’s libraries.
