Publishers to open Saxmundham Summer Fair

Two well-respected publishers will be opening Saxmundham Library’s Mid Summer Fair next week.

The event is open to all the family and takes place on Saturday 21 June from 11am to 2pm. It will be opened by Liz Calder; founding publisher of Bloomsbury Books and current founder at Full Circle Publishers and FlipFest Brazillian literary festival at Snape Maltings; and Louis Baum; children’s author and co-founder of Full Circle Publishers.

There will be a range of fun games and stalls, donated second hand books and other items for sale, plus refreshments and cakes. The Rabble Chorus choir will be performing songs between 11.15am and 12 noon. The library is still looking for any donations for prizes. For more information contact the library on 01728 652440.

Woodbridge Library dementia event and writers’ workshop

Woodbridge library is holding a Dementia Awareness Talk on Thursday 19 June 2014 with Cathy O’Brian who works for the Seckford Foundation and is also involved with the Dementia Friends initiative. The event is open to everyone and starts at 12.30pm.

Woodbridge Library are running a free writers’ workshop sessions twice a month on Tuesdays at 5.30pm. Anyone who writes for pleasure is welcome to join in. Anyone who is interested can email [email protected] . Please contact the library for further information.

Chantry Summer Fair

Chantry Library is holding a two day Summer Fair at the end of June which will involve a Community Day on Saturday 28 June and a Family Fun Day on Sunday 29 June 2014.

The Community Day will run from 11am to 3pm and will include a wide range of activities including a BBQ, stalls and refreshments with a bar from 12noon. It’s a great way of finding out what the library and other community organisations have to offer with Hawthorn Children’s Centre, Jack ‘n’ Jill’s playgroup and Stone Lodge Community Centre also taking part.

The Family Fun Day on the Sunday will also run from 11am to 3pm, with a BBQ and bar and the event will provide fun and games, a fancy dress competition, storytelling, ice cream and cake. For more information about these events please contact Chantry Library on 01473 260880.

Chantry Library is also running a new free weekly street dance session every Friday from 4pm to 5pm. The new sessions are aimed at 8-12 year olds and will be run by Jay, an experienced and lively street dance teacher. There are also multi-sports sessions on the basketball court next to the library.
