illustrated talks

Sundays at Three’ is the title of a series of illustrated talks at Wymondham Abbey taking place during October. The first of the talks, The History of Wine is on Sunday 9 October 2016 at 3pm.

With archaeological evidence for wine making stretching back over 7,000 years, wine has a very long pedigree. Johnny Wyndham, of Van Vino, and Chris White, of Reno Wine, will be explaining how wine got to where it is today, in an illustrated talk on the History of Wine. Entry is free, no need to book.

The talk will be followed by a ticketed wine tasting event, with wine provided by Reno Wine. Tickets are £20, and can be obtained from Reno Wine, 15 Market Street, Wymondham, t. 01953 425995.

The second ‘Sundays at Three’ talk on Sunday 23 October, is called ‘Early Development of the English Language’. It will be given by Dr Geoffrey Platts, whose illustrated talk will describe the foundations of English and its evolution up to the 12th century, before modern forces standardised the language. The talk is free and will be followed by tea and biscuits.
